New Course: Low Chilled Water Delta T Mitigation (1.0 PDH available)

Low Delta-T Syndrome is a common (and costly) problem in many large facilities, especially on sprawling campuses with central chilled water plants.

On February 8, 2012 BELIMO and MIT presented their Beta site findings realized by correcting low chilled water Delta-T at five air handling units (AHU) in the Charles Hayden Library at the (IDEA) International District Energy Association Conference in Washington DC.

This presentation summarizes those finding and demonstrates how a coil flowing at 6°F Delta-T adds no additional air conditioning than when the water is at 12°F Delta-T. The system is simply overflowing and over pumping. The causes of low Delta-T and how to correct it is also discussed.
